Class topics for October 22

Collective intelligence is a relatively new subject for me. The idea of having the masses of people combining their knowledge onto a single platform is mind boggling in multiple ways. First, how does the user, or why would the user trust a collective site if the answer could just be a persons opinion. If I were to use an information source I would want some type of certification of the authenticity of the presented concepts. There should be some website that combines the credible data out of the massive amounts of scattered data on the Internet. Some sort of encyclopedia of usable data with hard facts, and some backbone. Even if an application such as google posts data, it should first verify that it has some truth. If this is not done than that website or blog will be of no use to anyone surfing the net.
